Pearland Youth Orchestra’s Summer Orchestra Camp is a four-day odyssey for string players, ages 9 - 18, that will delve into orchestral playing, conducting, and composition! Don't miss this marvelous opportunity to work with the PYO Conductor, Ms. Grace Lewis, swiftly advance your orchestral playing, and even conduct! Camp dates are Monday, July 15th through Thursday, 18th from 9:00am-1:00pm. A mini performance will be held on the last day from 12:30-1:00pm. Campers need to bring their instrument, their stand, and a sack lunch with a water bottle every day. ‌This camp is led by Pearland Youth Orchestra Conductor, Ms. Grace, and Allegro string faculty, Mr. Alexys! Ms. Grace serves as Director of Orchestras at G.W. Carver Magnet High School, on the advisory board of the International Society of Bassists, and performs as a freelance artist with Houston Ballet Orchestra and the Symphony of Southeast Texas. Ms. Grace holds a M.M. in Instrumental Performance from the University of Houston and a B.M. in Instrumental Performance from Oklahoma City University. Interviews with Ms. Grace can be heard on episodes of Jason Heath's Contrabass Conversations podcast as well as James Kwon Lee's JKL Podcast. Mr. Alexys is a sought-after violin instructor in the Houston area for the last decade and believes that the study of music brings a vast array of opportunities for a bright future. His teaching style is warm and kind while bringing out the very best in each student. ‌‌Don’t wait! This camp has limited space and it’s already starting to fill up!
